Gary Bembridge

Gary Bembridge spent 30 years building global brands at Unilever and Johnson & Johnson before setting up Gary Bembridge Unleashed in 2012.

He consults, talks, runs training programs, blogs, podcasts and writes on his main interests:

  • Brand building, positioning and differentiation.
  • How to successfully build global brands.
  • Developing and executing a brand marketing mix that resonates with the modern connected consumer.

My main expertise is in:

  • Brand Strategy & Positioning.

  • Brand Communication including traditional and new digital media.
  • Development and Delivery of Marketing Training Programs and Processes.


My key strengths based on consistent feedback from peers, business partners and clients are:

  • Strong strategic thinking and skills. I am an experienced and disciplined brand builder. I have worked at all levels and across multiple geographies. I have worked at all levels, including projects for the CEO.
  • Brand building, with a very strong track record in turning around "problem" and struggling brands. Most of my assignments have been either to turn around or significantly grow under-performing brands or to create new white space projects. Most recently I have been working on the revitalising the RoC® Skincare brand globally.
  • Inspirational and motivating leadership style. I am consistently rated as being a strong manager and team leader with respect for people and encouraging different points of view, encouraging input and participation across the organization.

Born in Zimbabwe, he did a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Natal-Kwazulu (South Africa) and has been based in London since 1987. During his varied career he held roles as diverse as the Global Vice President Marketing for  the iconic Johnson’s Baby brand, the Global Vice President eBusiness and the Global Vice President RoC Anti-Age Skincare.  

Gary’s Unleashed on Marketing Podcast won awards in the European Podcast Awards in 2010, 2011 and 2012.
